Balancing Act

Today was one of those days. You know – the ones where you have mounds of bills in the mail that need paid, meals  that need made, the dishwasher is full (and so is the sink), but when you’re a NICU parent, there is an added wrench in there: your child is in the hospital, so you have to go there to spend time with him or her. It can really leave me feeling frustrated, flustered, stretched thin, and sad. Luckily, once I was able to get to the hospital, we had one of our favorite nurses at the Special Care Nursery taking care of our daughter, and she had a good afternoon. There is hardly anything like some snuggling and successful breastfeeding to make the day feel less rotten.

I really look forward to the days when I don’t have to drive to the hospital to visit our daughter.
